Porterfield, Farley will be independent voices

first_imgCategories: Letters to the Editor, Opinion First, let’s acknowledge there’s a controlling, special interest group made up of Schenectady City Council members Ed Kosiur, John Polimeni, John Mootooveren and Karen Zalewski-Wildzunas. This four-pack has been able to shut down council debate on issues important to Schenectady city residents.Secondly, it’s important the city electorate know that Councilwomen Marion Porterfield has been snubbed by fellow council members Mr. Kosiur and Mr. Polimeni because of her courage and willingness to have a position and vote her conscience, despite what the Democratic leaders attempted to pressure her to do.Thirdly, council members Mr. Mootooveren and Mrs. Zalewski-Wildzunas lack the courage necessary to speak and act as independent council members. Rather, too often they have stood in the shadow of council members Mr. Kosiur and Mr. Polimeni ignoring the voices of their constituents. Finally, on Election Day, I urge you to re-elect Marion Porterfield and elect Damonni Farley to the Schenectady City Council so they can join the independent voices of Council President Leesa Perazzo and council member Vince Riggi. Then and only then will the residents of Schenectady benefit from a City Council that is willing to listen and include the voices of its constituents.Chad PutmanSchenectadyMore from The Daily Gazette:Schenectady, Saratoga casinos say reopening has gone well; revenue down 30%Troopers: Schenectady pair possessed heroin, crack cocaine in Orange County Thruway stopSchenectady High School senior class leaders look to salvage sense of normalcyFoss: Should main downtown branch of the Schenectady County Public Library reopen?Anderson starts, but Dodgers finish off NLCS winlast_img
