first_imgJenni: Won bursaryINISHOWEN author Jenni Doherty has won the inaugural Noelle Vial Tyrone Guthrie Annaghmakerrig Centre Poetry Bursary Award.By John GillSet up in memory of the award-winning poet, the announcement was made at a special celebratory night for the late Killybegs poet at the Donegal Bay and Blue Stacks Festival. Jenni, originally from Greencastle in Inishowen but living in Derry for the past 20 years, published her debut collection “Rain Spill” last year and is her debut solo collection of poetry and prose. In the publication, Jenni, creates the illusion of a water dance through the use of rain, ocean, mist, fog, frost, storm, snow and rainbow to capture the sense of her hometown and belonging, of experience and emotion, of life and lessons learnt. Some pieces have evolved naturally while others have been created for the purpose of live performance or as topical commentary for broadcast or newspaper.Tender, light and humorous in places yet coarse, raw and unforgiving in others, this is a spill of thoughts, imaginations, fictions, ideas and realities gathered over four decades.  GREENCASTLE AUTHOR JENNI WINS BURSARY IN HONOUR OF DONEGAL POET was last modified: October 1st, 2013 by John2Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:awardbursaryGreencastleJenni DohertyTyrone Guthrielast_img
