SNOPA to employers seeking passwords Access denied

first_img © 2012 Phys.Org (Phys.org) — A Bill has been introduced in Washington to stop employers and schools from demanding access to people’s social network accounts. On Friday, Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) presented SNOPA, which stands for the Social Networking Online Protection Act. Under SNOPA, employers can’t ask current workers or new job applicants for access to their social networking accounts. If employers ignored the ruling they would pay $10,000 as civil penalty. The ban on such information demands would also apply to schools. They would be forbidden to ask for social networking log-in information, to support their decisions on enrollment or discipline. The SNOPA ruling would extend to all school levels, from colleges and universities down to K-12 schools. The move to introduce the Bill follows reports that employers are asking applicants for information so they can access applicants’ Facebook accounts as part of the interview process. Ostensibly the hirers justify this as wanting to see if the person is a team fit and capable of showing the right kind of behavior within the job’s professional setting. Demands are also placed on present employees. A case in point involved a teacher’s aide in Michigan who was fired after she refused to hand over her Facebook password to supervisors. Their demand had followed a complaint by a parent on the aide’s Friend list who found a photo objectionable. Those backing the legislation say it’s a disturbing trend. Engel said there were “countless examples” of employers requiring an applicant to divulge user name and password as part of the hiring process. “A person’s so-called ‘digital footprint’ is largely unprotected,” he said in a statement.Such infringements, say SNOPA backers, also infringe on other protective shields. Viewing a social networking site may reveal applicant information that is not allowed to be up for consideration at the time of the interview, such as religion or sexual orientation.Facebook would welcome such a bill. Facebook has called attention to a “distressing increase” in password-demand cases in the United States over the past few years. While there is no federal law yet to remedy the issue, a number of voices on the state level have expressed dissent over coerced access. Maryland is in the front lines seeking to ban the practice. As an example of concern, the Maryland Department of Corrections was requiring access to applicants’ Facebook pages to view profiles, as part of screening those seeking work in jails, and looking for possible illegal activity and gang affiliations. One such instance involved a former corrections officer wanting to be recertified for his job following a leave of absence. He complied, as an interviewer roamed his private messages, pictures, and posts. The Department, however, has revised its policy and asks only for voluntary participation to view profiles. According to an AP report, the corrections department last year assessed 2,689 applications. Out of the 2,689, seven candidates were rejected in part because of information found on their social media profiles. Another candidate was rejected solely because of content on a profile. That candidate, along with others, used social media profiles that had images of them showing gang signs.A bill that would protect against bosses viewing employee passwords awaits signature by the Maryland governor. Researchers develop simple way to fabricate microsupercapacitors with high energy density

first_img Citation: Researchers develop simple way to fabricate micro-supercapacitors with high energy density (2017, July 3) retrieved 18 August 2019 from https://phys.org/news/2017-07-simple-fabricate-micro-supercapacitors-high-energy.html Explore further Stretchy supercapacitors power wearable electronics In a new study, researchers have developed a simple “one-step method” for fabricating micro-supercapacitors and demonstrate that the final devices exhibit a very good overall performance, including a high power density (1500 mW/cm3) as well as an energy density (11.6 mWh/cm3) that is at least twice as high as similar micro-supercapacitors. The researchers, Han Xiao et al. at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have published their paper in a recent issue of ACS Nano.”We have developed a versatile, simple and effective method for fabricating high-energy micro-supercapacitors with designed shapes,” coauthor Zhong-Shuai Wu at the Dalian National Laboratory for Clean Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, told Phys.org.The essential step of fabricating the new micro-supercapacitor is integrating phosphorene nanosheets into the interlayer of graphene nanosheets, and the good performance is in large part due to the synergistic combination of these two materials. The different materials have complementary effects, with the phosphorene offering a high storage capacity and preventing the graphene sheets from unwanted stacking, while the graphene forms the main skeleton and offers a high-speed electron transport network.Among their other characteristics, the micro-supercapacitors demonstrate very good flexibility, which the researchers attribute to the layered structure and planar device geometry. The device also has a high capacitance, which is maintained at nearly 90% of its maximum capacity after 2000 cycles. In general, the simple fabrication process also contributes to improving the device performance because it avoids the contamination and oxidation that often occur during multiple-step processing. As the researchers explain, the small energy-storage devices have the potential to be used in a wide variety of areas.”Micro-supercapacitors are very promising for on-chip energy storage,” Wu said. “Very recently, the emergence of wearable and smart electronics urgently call for highly flexible and multi-functional, integrated energy storage devices. Overall, new micro-supercapacitors could keep up with the pace of the fast development of high-tech microsystems used in the precision instruments, materials, bio-medical and other fields.”The researchers also expect that, in the future, the new fabrication process can be easily scaled up and eventually be used for commercial purposes. They also plan to investigate other materials and techniques for developing microscale energy storage systems.”We are continuously developing a variety of ultrathin, structurally defined graphene and 2-D materials, safe high-voltage electrolytes, and device fabrication techniques for flexible, smart, and integrated microscale energy storage device systems, such as high-energy micro-supercapacitors,” Wu said. © 2017 Phys.org (Phys.org)—One of the most promising microscale power sources for portable and wearable electronics is a micro-supercapacitor—they can be made thin, lightweight, highly flexible, and with a high power density. Normally, however, manufacturing these devices involves complicated techniques that often require high pressures, irradiation, and multiple steps.center_img More information: Han Xiao et al. “One-Step Device Fabrication of Phosphorene and Graphene Interdigital Micro-Supercapacitors with High Energy Density.” ACS Nano. Ratna Chatterjee stages sitin protest in front of Mayors house

first_imgKolkata: The soured relationship between Mayor Sovan Chatterjee and his wife Ratna took its ugliest turn with the latter organising a sit-in demonstration in front of Mayor’s apartment at Southern Avenue. Ratna started the agitation since late Thursday night alleging that her husband has been refusing to sign documents for her daugther’s visa, who is scheduled to leave for Germany. The husband wife duo has been living separately since November last year after Mayor filed a divorce petition at Alipore court. Ratna started the sit-in demonstration accompanied by her daughter at around 1 am on the footpath infront of Chatterjee’s residence claiming that the latter has got a chance to visit Germany in connection with a school project and he refuses to sign visa documents. “I have been trying to contact Sovan numerous times but he has been avoiding us. His signature is required on some documents, so that my daughter can avail the visa,” Ratna said. Chatterjee shot back questioning the authenticity of the documents on which Ratna is demanding his signature.”I am being blackmailed and forced to sign on some documents that are not meant for my daughter’s Visa. I am the city Mayor and have to adhere to some international protocol. I cannot sign on any anything or everything,” Chatterjee said.He further questioned: “Why should I not sign on the my daughter’s documents? Do you think 1 am is the time when somebody would come to sign documents?”He maintained that as a divorce petition is pending before the court, he has to follow court order before taking any step. Later at around 10 am in the morning, on the basis of Mayor’s complaint, his wife was arrested by Rabindra Sarobar police station and later released on bail. Ratna on Friday afternoon lodged a complaint with the police station that some persons had heckled her while she was peacefully agitating infront of Mayor’s residence.last_img read more

Myths around coconut oil busted

first_imgIf consumed in moderation and accompanied by a healthy diet and plenty of exercise, coconut oil is great for the body, skin and hair, say experts. Myth: Coconut oil causes heart diseaseFact: Coconut oil is as far as possible from being harmful to your heart’s health. The reason this myth was perpetuated was because of its large percentage of saturated fat. Advanced research has proved that naturally occurring fats don’t damage your heart. Instead processed foods and those containing large quantities of refined sugars and high fructose corn syrup are making heart troubles widespread. Also Read – Add new books to your shelfMyth: It tastes coconutyFact: Coconut oil comes in two variants: Refined and virgin/cold pressed – and not all varieties have a coconuty flavour. Refined coconut oil has literally no taste or odour, these are often refined, bleached, and deodorised so that they can be consumed easily. However, hydrogenated coconut oil should be avoided at all costs as the process can create synthetic trans-fats. Go for coconut oil that has been refined using a natural and chemical-free process. And if a slight coconut flavour in your food doesn’t make it unpalatable for you then opt for the virgin variety. Also Read – Over 2 hours screen time daily will make your kids impulsiveMyth: Coconut oil has high cholesterolFact: Coconut oil is made up of medium-chain triglycerides which are a super fuel used up by our bodies very efficiently. In fact, they contribute towards a better cholesterol profile. This means that either your overall cholesterol levels go down or your good cholesterol levels go up on substantial consumption. It’s the ratio of your total cholesterol to your good cholesterol that determines how healthy you really are.last_img read more

Partygoing boys likely to be sexually aggressive

first_imgCollege going boys who often attend parties or go to bars for drinks are more likely to be sexually aggressive compared to those who do not, says a new study. “We found that it wasn’t alcohol use, per se, that leads to sexual aggression,” said Michael Cleveland, Associate Professor at Washington State University. “But the combination of alcohol and the setting that the drinking takes place in had a major impact on the number of reported aggressive tactics used,” Cleveland added. Also Read – Add new books to your shelfA group of over 1,000 college males participated in a survey for the research. The survey was conducted by email or online. “We asked them how often they drank and if and how often they went to bars or parties,” Cleveland said. “Then we asked if they used any specific tactics to convince, or even pressure, women to have sex with them,” he added. Those tactics ranged from threatening to break up with her to getting her drunk and harming her physically. The findings also showed that more the male students reported drinking as freshmen, the more likely they were to commit a sexually aggressive act. The study further found that the men who went to bars and parties more often tended to have higher levels of impersonal sexual orientation, characterised by a preference for sex without commitment and a greater number of sexual partners than the ones who do not party.last_img read more

Five Helpful Android Apps for the Office

first_imgJuly 7, 2010 Brought to you by PCWorld Listen Now Hear from Polar Explorers, ultra marathoners, authors, artists and a range of other unique personalities to better understand the traits that make excellence possible. How Success Happens These five business programs for Android phones tout unique and useful features. Although no one plans to give up their laptop and start working full time on a cell phone, these tools could provide adequate functionality, when necessary, such as those days you’re waiting for a flight or commuting to work on the subway.1. DataViz Documents to Go: Free Reader, $14.99 full versionThis mobile office suite looks like a handy addition to a smartphone. Documents to Go for users of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF files lets you view corresponding files on your Android device with the free version. You can view, edit, and create Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files–plus view Adobe PDF files–with the full version. This means employees and executives can make changes to a proposal, spreadsheet, or slideshow presentation at the last minute while riding the elevator to the 27th floor or grabbing a coffee at Starbucks. If you discover that your assistant has entered the wrong sales quotes on a bid sheet minutes before you enter a big meeting with clients, you can open the spreadsheet, make the change in seconds, then send the new document as an attachment to your boss before the meeting starts.2. Google Voice: Free, except for international callsWith this service, you and your employees can forward all of your phones–home, work, cell, and others–to a single Google phone number, which you can manage through a web-based application similar to Gmail; that is, Google’s e-mail service. Google Voice could save companies and their customers time and effort, and it’s free for all domestic calls. International calls are charged according to a fee structure on the Google Voice website. What’s so great about that? Well, you can give all your clients and associates one Google number, then forward all your phones to that number. When they call, all of your phones ring, and you can answer the call on the phone in your current location. In addition, voicemails are transcribed to text and sent to your e-mail address. Other features include listening in on a voicemail before answering the phone, conference calling, call screening, call blocking annoying telemarketers, and call history. But one of the best features that could reduce mobile phone service costs is the Mobile App, which allows employees to send and receive text messages for free, without carrier charges. Check out the Google Voice site for more information about this application, including the available options for Google Voice without the Google number.3. PWN Document Scanner: Free trial, $3.98 full versionHave you ever been in a meeting and needed a copy of an important document that someone else brought to the table? What about a contract, a license, or a lease agreement? Even if you had your laptop with you, it can’t scan a document or a photo. Who wants to run out to a Xerox machine in the middle of a meeting? Document Scanner scans any document or photo with your phone’s camera. You can save it, convert it to a PDF, then e-mail it or upload it to Google Docs for sharing and storage. There’s no limit to the number of pages you can scan, or to the number you can save to a memory card, except for the card’s memory capacity. And, if you’re at a conference or seminar where all the notes are posted on a whiteboard, you can just scan the whiteboard and save the notes on your phone. Where was this technology when I was in college?4. Big in Japan ShopSavvy 3.5.5: Free Some would question whether a shopping program is really a business application, and normally I would. But this program could be a time saver for companies on the lookout for the best deals on computer equipment, communications products, office supplies, office furniture, and even paper consumables. Just use your phone’s camera to scan the barcode (or manually enter the barcode numbers on your keypad) of the products your office needs, such as your favorite printer, Android phone, or file cabinet. Then, ShopSavvy searches local and online vendors for the best prices. Scroll through the reviews of the products ShopSavvy recommends, and you can order directly from your smartphone. You can even create price alerts that ping you when the products go on sale.5. Flaviu Negrean Talk to Me: FreeToday’s economy is global, and this affects all companies of all sizes. Unless your team includes several multilingual individuals, having a conversation with a client in French, German, or Chinese is pretty tough while holding an English to French–or German or Chinese–dictionary. One option is to try a translator application such as Talk To Me. This app uses Google Voice Recognition, Translate, and Text-to-Speech to translate among English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Chinese, and Japanese. Just speak into the phone and the phone talks back in the selected language. No more flipping through pages of language guides, listening to French tapes in your car, sitting through Chinese classes, or investing in products such as Rosetta Stone. Talk To Me and other apps like this could soon change the definition of multilingual.See this PCWorld story for more about Android apps, visit the PCWorld AppGuide, or check the Android Market site. 5 min readlast_img read more

5 Tips for Making Your Website More Social

first_img Free Webinar | Sept 5: Tips and Tools for Making Progress Toward Important Goals Register Now » July 2, 2012 Attend this free webinar and learn how you can maximize efficiency while getting the most critical things done right. If you operate a website, you’re no doubt familiar with search engine optimization. Now, add “social optimization” to your to-do list.A website that’s optimized for social media sharing typically attracts more traffic and sparks more engagement with customers. But what does social optimization mean exactly? Is it simply a matter of adding social sharing buttons to pages? Actually, it encompasses everything from encouraging more sharing on your pages to seeking more feedback from visitors. To make your website more social, consider these five tips for going beyond buttons:1. Encourage a more social experience. There is a belief that people either share or they don’t. Not so. You can encourage sharing and engagement on your website by choosing “emotionally intelligent words.” This means you select words that represent the personality of your brand and appear conversational.A good example would be changing a “Try it now” link to “Ready to give it a whirl?” This evokes an action and also makes the click more of a personal experience for the user. Making it personal, in turn, can help users feel more comfortable about leaving a comment or sharing on your site.Related: A New Tool for Adding Facebook Features to Your Website2. Raise the bar on content quality.Creating distinctive content that your customers find interesting and useful is, of course, key to any successful online marketing strategy. Without such content, there’s less chance that your pages will be discovered and linked to by other sites.Improving the quality of your content is one way to make your site more social. Think about it. Are you creating articles, blog posts or videos that are worth sharing? For example, make sure your titles are enticing. Be sure to integrate your sharing buttons closely with the pieces of content.Content format and length are also important. Infographics, videos and concise blog posts are generally shared more often than long, in-depth pieces because they’re easily and quickly digested. That’s especially important with the growing number of mobile-device consumers.3. Incentivize when possible. By incentivizing your visitors with gamification features such as badges, counts and stars, you play to an innate need to compete and win. Ask yourself what can be tweaked on your site to incentivize sharing. Maybe it’s something as simple as ratings or voting. One example of successful incentivizing is ModCloth’s “Be the Buyer” program. The online vintage clothing retailer invites shoppers to vote on which outfit the company should sell next. Customers are also encouraged to promote the outfit to friends to get more votes. If an outfit gets enough votes, ModCloth will carry the outfit. This program encourages shoppers to check back often, increasing site visits and potentially boosting sales. The shoppers are rewarded by being able to buy an outfit that isn’t carried anywhere else. It’s a win-win.Related: How to Create a Search-Friendly Website4. Actively seek customer feedback. When was the last time you asked your visitors what they wanted to see next? Whether it’s asking them to vote on the next feature you build or to choose a product they’d like to see you sell, don’t underestimate the power of feedback. Crowdsourcing on your site can help encourage users to be social both with you and each other. An example comes from conversion and retention analytics company KISSmetrics, which spent its first year asking customers which metrics they needed and where they should go in its app. By relying on customer feedback, KISSmetrics was able to meet customer expectations throughout its platform. This approach helped increase customer retention and the likelihood of future feedback, as well.5. Track diligently and make adjustments. You might believe that some brands are just more likely to win in social engagement than others, but that is rarely the case. Success often comes down to a more strategic process of testing and making adjustments. To boost engagement on your site, test such factors as where sharing buttons go and which kind of messages encourage customer interaction. Most sites have Google Analytics or other research tools, but few are using them to track social media traffic and better understand how people are engaging on their site. Simple changes such as using more direct language can often boost social activity.Businesses that refuse to test and adjust their social optimization strategies will find that engagement can quickly fizzle and competitors will gladly connect with their former fans.Related: 5 Ways to Master Social Media Multitasking 4 min read Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.last_img read more

What Is Net Neutrality and How Can It Affect Your Business

first_img 3 min read Hear from Polar Explorers, ultra marathoners, authors, artists and a range of other unique personalities to better understand the traits that make excellence possible. Q: What is net neutrality, and how can it affect my business?A: We enjoy an open network in which internet service providers (ISPs) distribute the information we send and receive on a neutral basis–meaning without preferential treatment. In this best-case-scenario environment, all internet traffic is treated equally. But this setup isn’t guaranteed, and it’s an issue that needs to be watched carefully, according to Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of reddit, the social news website powered by user-submitted content. We asked him about the importance of net neutrality in creating parity for all businesses. What would a non-neutral internet environment look like?An ISP could freely insist that social networks such as Facebook or a cloud service provider such as Amazon pay an additional fee in exchange for the ISP delivering their data faster. Facebook and Amazon could buy this preferential treatment, which would give them a huge advantage over their smaller and now slower-moving competition. But if they refused to meet the ISP’s financial “suggestion,” the service provider could–and I stress could–slow down access to those services, which to even the casual observer raises the specter of blackmail. How would that affect my small business? With net neutrality as we have now, you, the entrepreneur, have the opportunity to compete with anyone–and you have a chance to succeed–because anyone can access your website as easily as they can find the incumbents. If we lose net neutrality, a small-business owner will face a much smaller market. Worst-case scenario: Instead of being able to sell to anyone with an internet connection, fledgling entrepreneurs would find their customers limited to those who paid for the “internet package” that covers access to their particular website. It would be like your cable TV plan: The more you pay, the more channels you receive. The reason innovation thrives online today is that everyone has access to every channel equally.Don’t current laws guarantee net neutrality? No. Earlier this year, a lawsuit between the Federal Communications Commission and Verizon began when the broadband giant came up with a plan to sell metered internet packages to its customers. The FCC tried to block it based on net neutrality but lost that battle because it had imposed “common carrier” utilities regulations on broadband service providers. But those providers were never officially classified as utilities, so the court rejected it. The FCC said it plans to regroup and push net neutrality on the regulatory side.Who’s opposing net neutrality?Internet service providers who want to turn the internet into a tiered service. I liken it to having to pay more for the electricity going to your TV because you bought a Sony instead of a Samsung. This story appears in the June 2014 issue of . The Top 4 Reasons SEO Is Dead

first_img Register Now » Free Webinar | Sept. 9: The Entrepreneur’s Playbook for Going Global April 28, 2015 5 min read For years Google has dominated the internet and more or less held a monopoly on consumer searches. Nobody ever says, “Yahoo those song lyrics.” However, with rapid changes in social media and new trends in consumer behavior online, the giant now faces some uncharted challenges.Related: 5 Social Media Marketing Metrics You Should Be TrackingHow does this affect you? Well, if your business up to this point has relied Google searches to generate revenue, the following emerging trends are something you should keep an eye on to make sure your business doesn’t take an unexpected hit.1. Organic reach is down.Although Google is still the dominating force in search-engine traffic, consumers’ intelligence level and frame of mind have changed big time in just the past few years. First, organic reach is down. Organic reach is the number of people shown your post through unpaid distribution — and it’s down because users are searching elsewhere (see the next point).Consumers are aware of the difference between sponsored listings and organic listings more so than ever before. This has arguably created cynicism in many users, who avoid clicking on paid ads altogether even though they’re often the best source of the information they seek. Since competition has gone up for many keywords, driving up the prices on ads and causing a frenzy of mixed information in organic-search results, users have begun trending toward internet searches, where they can confirm and mirror their peer groups’ opinions and decisions.2. People want what their friends have. The days are fading of people typing their searches into Google and trusting anything it spits back at them. This has people searching in new ways. Facebook’s move to step up its search options poses the largest threat to Google’s market share. When users search for something like a new restaurant or movie, they want to see the opinions and behaviors of people they actually know and respect. Google was too slow to adapt this trend and so it now has to either catch up or get left behind. Consumers are more likely to care what their friends’ favorite restaurant is than what restaurant is on the first page that comes up on a local Google search.Related: Will Google’s Algorithm Update Affect Your Franchise Sales?3. Mobile apps and niche social networks are taking market share. We Millenials are the generation of Googling, Tindering and Uber-ing. We love to do everything on our phones, from looking up song lyrics to finding dates, to hailing a ride home after a wild night. Consumer traffic online is splitting into niches faster than reality-star couples are splitting up. With more competition online, app developers have seen great success in appealing to specific niches exclusively. How does this affect SEO? The reason that this trend toward splitting-up is one of the biggest killers of traditional search engine strategies is that it gives tech-savvy users a much more targeted search option. Instead of searching all of Google for the best restaurants in Manhattan and being flooded with difficult-to-decipher results, users can search Yelp, an application completely dedicated to detailed lists of the best establishments, with review peer ratings, and make a more educated, simpler decision.Likewise, a consumer who in the past may have searched for the latest fashion trends on Google is now more likely to search Pinterest. Therefore, as a marketer or business owner, it is more important to know where your customer is looking for your product, than to rely solely on your product appearing at the top of Google. 4. Facebook has. . . faces. You may not agree, but many people just don’t trust Google the way they used to. Facebook has the advantage of faces. Google lacks the incorporation of social proof. Although Google tried to to catch up by rolling out its Google Plus social network, and although it was forced on us like the Kardashians, the feature never could deliver benefits to users enough to justify using a second social network.Social proof is one of the biggest driving factors in consumers’ decisions today and there is just no way to force or fake that. Until Google figures out a different way to out-appeal Facebook and give people a platform to socialize, to share where they eat, to party and kick back, Google may end up being a tool just for boring factual research, like those old-school hardcover encyclopedias consigned to the back shelf.Search engines, specifically Google, will likely always be the place we go to get the information we need. However, the point is that now that customers have so many other options of where to search, it is important that businesses which traditionally relied fully on SEO to pick up customers be aware of where their customers are trending to — or get left behind.Related: 5 Signs That It’s Time to Outsource Your Marketing Growing a business sometimes requires thinking outside the box. Milestones that might otherwise be impossible to achieve using your mother tongue alone: A new country. A new job. A new life. An escape from poverty.A firm belief in multilingualism as a pathway to success is what fueled Carnegie Mellon computer science professor Luis Von Ahn, 36, and his former Ph.D. student, Severin Hacker, 31, to launch Duolingo. The Pittsburgh-based startup created a popular free app, also called Duolingo, that makes learning a new language all fun and games. Literally.Related: Duolingo, the Chart-Topping Language App, Unveils a Platform for TeachersTurns out the app was an accident of sorts, a “happy mistake.” Back in 2011, Von Ahn and Hacker originally set out to launch a basic language education website. The mobile app was an afterthought, an “extra feature” that’s taken off beyond their wildest dreams. (Of course, a few star-powered hefty investments along the way from the likes of Ashton Kutcher, Tim Ferriss and Google Capital didn’t hurt.)  Today, Duolingo puts foreign words on the tongues of some 15 million monthly active users. This includes people in CEO Von Ahn’s native country of Guatemala, where the inventor-entrepreneur says most residents can’t afford a good education.“I’ve always thought in order to get out of poverty, people need education and yet having access to a good education requires money,” he says. “So we decided to create a high-quality education platform that would be free for everyone, and we chose to focus on teaching something that could really make a difference in a person’s life in terms of salary potential.”Related: What Type of Connector Are You? Users engage in colorful, adorably illustrated multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank mini-games that test their reading, writing and speaking skills. They can also compete against friends, earn badges and post high scores on social-media platforms. All the while, they chip away at translating the Internet. That would be the whole Internet. One translation game at a time, users help Duolingo translate existing online content, everything from news articles to Creative Commons and Wikipedia entries and beyond. Consider it a pay-it-forward tradeoff for acquiring new lingo for free. Not only do Duolingo users learn to talk the talk at no financial cost, they also don’t see a single ad. No in-app purchases either. This strong focus on its customers helped the brand land on this year’s Entrepreneur360™ Performance Index, a collection of the best entrepreneurial companies in America.Related: How to Create a Multilingual WebsiteSo how does the startup stay afloat? Von Ahn says it generates revenue via profits earned from its Test Center, which went live last year. For $20, anyone can take a 20-minute test on the website that certifies their language skills for educational institutions and employers. The offering directly competes with a similar test, the standard Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam, which costs up to $250 to take. The company’s recent expansion into language testing is apparently already paying off, with Uber now using its services to vet employees for English proficiency in Columbia, for example. The Harvard Extension School, LinkedIn, Upwork and Novell are also now accepting Duolingo English fluency test scores.   Meanwhile, Duolingo is catching fire in the classroom, modernizing the way kids learn foreign languages on a massive scale. So far, more than 100,000 teachers across the globe have signed up to use Duolingo For Schools, Von Ahn tells us. He says the government of Colombia has even adopted the program for official use in public schools, as has the government of Costa Rica, along with parts of Brazil and Guatemala. As for what’s up next, Duolingo, fresh off a $45 million funding round, is focusing on machine learning, a segment of artificial intelligence, as a way of automatically personalizing each learning encounter. “The goal is to offer the experience of having a tutor for everyone, for free.” Ah, progress. We like the sound of it in any language.Related: A World of Customers Is Waiting to Read Your Website in Their Language October 7, 2015center_img Free Workshop | August 28: Get Better Engagement and Build Trust With Customers Now Enroll Now for Freelast_img read more

Google has caved to the angry (online) masses, announcing early today (Sept. 26) that it will soon let you sign into a Google account without automatically signing into Chrome. (You’re always signed into Google on Android, so, as one Twitter reply to Green’s Twitter rant said, “there is no escape” there.)Green assumed that the new automatic sign-in to Chrome, which began with Chrome 69, the current version, automatically uploaded your browsing history and bookmarks to Google. After all, that’s how you can sync those items across instances of Chrome on multiple devices. However, Google security engineer Adrienne Porter-Felt responded to Green on Twitter, clarifying that the automatic login was actually a privacy feature to make sure that multiple people using the same device didn’t use each other’s accounts — and that the syncing of browsing history was a feature you now had to opt into. That didn’t quell the online firestorm, and another dodgy-sounding Chrome feature soon emerged — it turned out that in Chrome 69, deleting all cookies didn’t delete Google cookies. In a blog post today, Chrome product manager Zach Koch announced that, in response to such feedback, the company will now allow users to turn off the auto-sign in feature and let them clear all cookies.”We’ve heard — and appreciate — your feedback,” he wrote.Koch further outlined the original intent of the auto-login feature, which was to “prevent users from inadvertently performing searches or navigating to websites that could be saved to a different user’s synced account.”In other words, for family computers or other shared devices, automatic sign-in helped Chrome make sure everyone’s browsing data was correctly attributed. Still, Google probably should have realized this change would cause an uproar, especially since the change was not publicized. As for Green, he said he appreciates the outreach, but he’s still going to “start separating from Google.”To turn off auto-sign-in on the newest Chrome build, go to Settings > Privacy and Security, and toggle “Allow Chrome sign-in” to off.Credit: BigTunaOnline/Shutterstock Enable Guest Browsing in Chrome Remove Extensions from Chrome How to Make Chrome More Touch-Friendly More Tips How to Stop Pop-Ups in Chrome How to Silence Noisy Tabs in Chrome How to Change Your Default Search Engine in Chrome’s Omnibox Enable Guest Browsing in Chrome How to Use Chrome’s Built-in Task Manager How to Reduce Memory Usage in Chrome Chrome Browser Tips Chrome Browser Tips How to Prevent Scrollbar Jumping How to Put Chrome in High Contrast Mode Protect Yourself from Spoilers with the Chrome Browser How to Reduce Memory Usage in Chrome How to Change Your Default Search Engine in Chrome’s Omnibox How to Create Desktop Shortcuts for Web Pages Using Chrome How to Prevent Scrollbar Jumping Protect Yourself from Spoilers with the Chrome Browser Show Frames Per Second in Chrome How to Enable Do Not Track in Chrome How to Clear Your Internet History in Chrome How to Reduce Memory Usage in Chrome Disable (and Enable) Notifications in Chrome How to Create Desktop Shortcuts for Web Pages Using Chrome Firefox Quantum versus Chrome Hide Your Chrome Browsing From Your Bosslast_img read more

How to research Firefox crashes

first_imgHow to research Firefox crashes by Martin Brinkmann on November 06, 2016 in Firefox – Last Update: November 06, 2016 – 13 commentsFirefox Nightly has been crashing on me for the past three days. The browser starts up fine, but it crashes after about a minute has passed even if I don’t do anything. One thing that is strange and noticeable is that Firefox nightly spawns two windows, one blank without title or any other information, and the the main browser window.Clues are scarce usually when the browser crashes. While you may link it to your previous action, it is often not as easy as that. The following guide provides you with the means to analyze crashes in Firefox.Note: Analyzing does not necessarily mean that you will be able to correct the issue on your end. It can very well be that it is a issue that can only be fixed through code changes and updates. While you may be interested to know why the browser crashed to avoid this in the future, you often have to correct issues caused by the crash. It is fairly common for instance that crashes take the session away from you so that it cannot be restored automatically on the next browser start. Not a problem for users who start with the homepage but users who restore sessions with dozens of even more open tabs may panic for a moment thinking that all those tabs are lost for good (hint: they are not, it is possible to restore sessions). How to research Firefox crashesCheck out this Firefox crash guide for tips on how to resolve the crashes. The following paragraphs concentrate on finding out more about the crash issue. The first thing you need to do is load about:crashes in Firefox. There are a few caveats that you need to be aware of. First, if Firefox crashes on start, then you won’t be able to access the page. You can try and run a different copy of Firefox, say Stable instead of Beta using the same profile to access the crash reports in that case.Second, you need to have crash reporting enabled for this to work. Load about:preferences#advanced, and make sure that the Crash Reporter is enabled.Note: It should be obvious that data is sent to Mozilla whenever crashes occur when the feature is enabled. If you don’t want that, don’t enable the feature. The about:crashes page lists all crashes, even those that were not submitted to Mozilla. Crash reports are sorted chronologically from newest to oldest in the interface-Each crash has a unique ID associated with it on top of that.Starting the analysisClick on one of the crashes, the latest for instance, to start your analysis. If the Crash Reporter has been enabled, information about the crash is displayed on Mozilla’s Crash Stats site. The page lists plenty of technical information that are of no use to users trying to figure out why their browser has crashed. There is a crash signature at the top however that may reveal the crash reason. In my particular case, the crash seems to have been caused by HTMLMediaElement::NotifyAudioPlaybackChanged.This signature alone may reveal to you why Firefox may have crashed and may provide you with an idea on how to fix the issue. When you browse the page, you find additional information of interest. There is a list of related bugs on the page, if they exist. This can be useful as it may point you to a bug report that has been filed already so that you know that Mozilla is working on fixing the crash.Sometimes, there is little that you can do if you cannot link the crash signature or information displayed on the page to your particular issue. You may file a bug in that case to inform Mozilla about the issue. While you can do so from the crash stats page, you need a Bugzilla@Mozilla account to actually file it.More researchStill, there is more that you can do on Mozilla Crash Reports. You find a “more reports” listing next to the signature field, and a search option. While search is often not that helpful, as it runs a search on Mozilla Support, more reports reveals additional information that you may find useful.A click on the more reports links opens a tabbed interface that offers lots of information. It begins with a summary page that reveals if other Firefox users have reported the same crash to Mozilla. The same page lists information about the architecture, graphics adapter and other hardware information of systems that reported the same crash signature.Other tabs of interest on that page are:Reports — this tab lists all reports, yours and that of other Firefox users who reported the issue.Bugzilla — reveals if a bug has been filed already on Bugzilla. You cannot file a bug from that tab unfortunately, but need to go back to the crash page where you can do that.Comments — lists comments that Firefox users added to crash reports.Closing WordsBrowser crashes that cannot be linked to a particular action are difficult to analyze. Mozilla’s Crash Reporter and crash reports it generates may point you in the right direction.Even if they don’t, you may still check if other Firefox users are experiencing the same issue, and report the bug to Mozilla to inform the organization about it.Now You: How do you handle crashes?SummaryArticle NameHow to research Firefox crashesDescriptionThe guide walks you through the steps of finding out more about Firefox crashes to analyze the reason for the crash or report the issue to Mozilla.Author Martin BrinkmannPublisher Ghacks Technology NewsLogo Advertisementlast_img read more

How to use Android Messages on the desktop

first_imgHow to use Android Messages on the desktop by Martin Brinkmann on June 19, 2018 in Google Android – 17 commentsGoogle revealed five new features for Android’s default messaging app Messages yesterday. The first advertised feature unlocks options to read and send texts from desktop computer systems. The new feature works similarly to how other messaging platforms including Google’s now more-dead-than-alive Allo messaging app handled desktop integration. The process itself is simple but requires a server-side unlocking by Google in the Messages application on the Android device. It will take weeks before all users get the functionality therefore, but that is typical for how Google handles new application releases. Here is how it worksVisit the new Android Messages website on the desktop. The service should work in all modern web browsers and not just Chrome. Google does note that the website does not work in Internet Explorer. The site displays a large QR code and instructions.Check the “remember this computer” option if you want to use the functionality in future sessions without having to repeat the authorization process.Open the Messages application on the Android device.Select the menu at the top and then “Messages for web”. If you don’t see “Messages for web” yet, you have to wait until Google unlocks it for you server-side.Scan the code displayed on the desktop website using the scanner. The process links the Messages application with the website. The site displays all conversations in a sidebar and the selected conversation in the main pane. You can read all messages and reply to any. The web version supports stickers, emoji, and image attachments, but search functionality and other nice to have features seem to be missing in this initial version. It does support notifications (alerts), comes with a dark theme and high contrast theme, and supports several keyboard shortcuts to speed things up.The following keyboard shortcuts are supported right now (replace Ctrl with Command on Mac):Start new conversation — Ctrl-Alt-CSwitch to next conversation — Ctrl-.Switch to previous conversation — Ctrl-,Delete conversation — Ctrl-Alt-RArchive conversation — Ctrl-Alt-HOpen Settings — Ctrl-Alt-XAttach files — Ctrl-Alt-AToggle Emoji Picker — Ctrl-Alt-EToggle Sticker Picker — Ctrl-Alt-SToggle People and Options — Ctrl-Alt-OMore information on the XDA Developers website. Why you may not want to use the featureIt can certainly be useful to read text messages and reply to contacts from the desktop as you can make use of the keyboard to type messages faster and add image attachments faster. The main issue with the implementation is that it does not support end-to-end encryption. May not be an issue for users who use Messages primarily for chit-chat but anyone who uses it for something serious may want to consider using communication applications like Telegram or Signal that support end-to-end encryption and are not owned by organizations that make money from knowing as much as possible about people. Now You: Which messaging application do you use?SummaryArticle NameHow to use Android Messages on the desktopDescriptionGoogle revealed five new features for Android’s default messaging app Messages yesterday including an option to access Messages on the desktop.Author Martin BrinkmannPublisher Ghacks Technology NewsLogo Advertisementlast_img read more

What Random Walks in Multiple Dimensions Teach You About Life

first_imgThe last time I looked at random walks, I used them to calculate the value of Pi for Pi Day. But what is a random walk, really? A mathematician will tell you that it’s a stochastic process—a path defined by a series of random steps. It’s a pretty abstract concept, but I want to show you how it can reveal something fundamental about life itself—the proteins that make up you and me and everything around us.So let’s start with the simplest random walk, in one dimension. One Dimensional Random WalkSuppose I have an object. This object can either move one space to the left or one space to the right. Suppose I let it make 100 steps. Here’s what that might look like. (click the “play” to run it) Notice that there is still a difference between SAW and normal walks—but the difference is very small. Basically in 4-D the object doesn’t really run into its own path so that it doesn’t have to avoid itself. Oh, and I have never seen it get stuck (but it’s still technically possible).Random Walks in Real LifeYou might be thinking that I’m just some crazy old man that’s obsessed with random walks. OK, that’s mostly true. But still—there are real world applications of random walks. In particular, proteins can be modeled as a random walk. I won’t go into all the details of proteins except to say two things. First, these are long molecular chains. Second, proteins are important for living things like you and me. If a protein is like a random walk, then maybe this model shows why life is in three dimensions instead of one, two, or four. Hear me out. (Yes, I know I’m crazy.)Life can’t be in one dimension. Sure you could make a 1-D protein, but it would never do anything useful. It wouldn’t interact with other things (except on the ends) and more importantly, it wouldn’t interact with itself. If the protein chain can’t fold over and connect back to itself, it can’t make useful molecules (you know, for life and stuff). [embedded content]That’s at least marginally interesting, right? But the cool part is that if you run it a bunch of times, it will (on average) end up farther away from the starting point depending on the number of steps. Oh sure—it’s possible that it could take 1,000 steps and end up where it started, but that probably won’t happen. But wait. There is another kind of random walk—there is the Self Avoiding Walk (SAW). This is just like a random walk except that the object can’t cross over its own path. In one dimension this would just be an object that continues to move to the left or continues to move to the right. After it makes its first move, there is only one way it can go. This is a boring simulation, so I won’t show it—but you can change line 37 in the code above so that it reads saw=True (case matters) and then it will be a self avoiding walk. Now for a plot. Suppose I run the random walk (the normal one, not the self avoiding one) such that it goes 10 steps. If I repeat these 10 steps 500 times, I will get an average final distance. Then I can repeat this for 20 steps, then 30 steps and so on. After that (which takes a while to run), I get the following plot of average distance vs. number of steps. If you want to see the code to produce this plot, here it is (no warranty included). What is important about this plot? Really, the only thing to notice is that this is different than a plot of a one dimensional random self avoiding walk. That plot would be boring as it would show the distance as equal to the number of steps (since it can’t go back on itself). Two Dimensional Random WalkIf we go in two dimensions, it gets a little more interesting. Check this out—it’s a 2-D random self avoiding walk. I have it set for 100 steps, but it doesn’t usually make it that far before it gets stuck. Yes, if the object avoids its own path it can get into a situation where it can not make a move. Check it out. Again, click the “play” to run it (it’s fun).[embedded content]Again, let’s see what happens when I run it a bunch of times at 10 steps up to 500 steps. Note: I just have the program quit when it gets stuck for a SAW. What about two-dimensional life? The big problem here is that you can’t make long proteins. Yeast proteins are over 400 units long. Good luck getting a random SAW that is over 50 units long without it getting stuck. You just can’t get long proteins in two dimensions and you can’t have yeast in 2-D. Without yeast, you can’t have two-dimensional beer—so we know life can’t exist in 2-D.If more dimensions allows for longer proteins, then why isn’t life in 4-D? Oh, don’t worry about space being 3-D—that’s a whole other debate we can save for another time. More importantly, there is a problem with 4-D random walks. Since there are so many options for each step, a random walk is unlikely to cross over its own path—which is bad for proteins. You want them to be able to get long but also to have the opportunity to connect to itself. In four dimensions, random walks do that rarely, which would make it difficult (unlikely) to get more complex molecules that are probably important for life.Or maybe I’m still just a crazy dude that likes random walks.center_img The curve that fits the data isn’t important. The thing you should focus on is the difference between SAW and non-SAW data. Since the SAW can’t cross its own path, it is forced to expand outward giving it (on average) a greater distance from the starting point. However, the SAW also gets stuck at some point such that it doesn’t really get farther than 10 units away (that’s why it levels off). I think that’s pretty cool.Three Dimensional Random WalkWhen will it end? Will I just keep moving into more and more dimensions (spoiler alert: No, I am going to stop at 4-D). Here is a 3-D random SAW.[embedded content]Note: I turned off “user zoom” so that you won’t accidentally zoom to nothing. However, you can still rotate the scene since it’s 3-D. Just right-click-drag or ctrl-click-drag to move the camera view of the 3-D path. It’s pretty. Oh, also notice that this is rarely going to get “stuck.” With six options for movement, there is probably going to be at least one of those directions that is open (and not already traveled). What about average distance traveled for SAW vs. non-SAW? Here you go (note, this is the same program for all of these graphs).Again, the SAW version ends up at a greater distance because the object can’t cross its path and gets “pushed” out more. But both types of walks have nice curve fits with the increasing distance with step size to the power of 0.4975 and the SAW increasing at a power of 0.4688. So, they are close to being the same but still different.Four Dimensional Random WalkHow do you make a random walk in four dimensions? Mathematically, it’s pretty easy—you just need an extra variable to represent that fourth dimension (and no, you can’t use time as a fourth dimension here). For my python code, I am just going use a vector for position along with an extra variable (that I call “w”). If you still want a visual animation, the code still works. It just displays motion in the fourth dimension as a change in color. That means that in a SAW, it’s possible that the object appears to cross its own path—but it doesn’t. Actually, it just moved in the fourth dimension (which you can’t really see) and avoided the path. Here is the 4-D walk (notice that I didn’t tell you to click “play”).[embedded content]Now for the important part. Here is a plot of final distance vs. step number for both the normal and the SAW. HomeworkHow about some homework questions for you? Yes, that’s a good idea.In all of my examples, I have a random walks (and SAW) as a lattice walk. This means that the vector location of the object always consists of components that are integers. This makes it much easier to program, but maybe it’s not realistic. See if the same conclusions about random walks in different dimensions holds true for a random walk that takes a step size of 1 unit, but at a random angle. This is pretty easy in 2-D since you just need one random angle. In 3-D you need two angles (the angles from spherical coordinates). Not sure how do to this in 4-D. Oh, seeing if it crosses its own path is more difficult too. Good luck. What if you don’t have a step size of 1 but instead each step has its own distance? Pick something like a normal distribution for step sizes and see if this same stuff works. What does the average distance vs. step number look like for a five-dimensional SAW and a 5-D random walk? What is the average number of steps before a random walk has a path conflict (such that it would have to either avoid its path or connect to make some type of molecule)? Yes, do this for two, three, and four dimensions.last_img read more

Briefly, could you tell me in your own words what OnlyFans/JustFor.Fans is?They’re subscription sites. Anyone can subscribe to their favorite porn star, or internet personality, and receive a private feed of content anywhere between PG13 and X-rated.It’s guys flexing, jerking off, and people like me who’ve chosen to go balls to the wall and do full on porn – which I charge $14.99 a month for.How long have you been using OnlyFans and why did you join?I started in January this year. Fans have always called for me to do porn, as I’ve always been sex-positive and naked on Instagram. But I really have no interest in studio porn. Then OnlyFans came out. I told my Instagram fans once I reach 100,000 followers I’ll do it.The money is really incredible. I’m going to nursing school in the fall, so this is a means to an end for me. I charge the cost of three lattes at Starbucks a month, but people are so demanding; there’s no way I can have sex and film something everyday!I have absolutely zero interest in being a porn personality and more notorious than I already am. But as it’s going to happen anyway, I’m interested in the money. How much money could an OnlyFans model make in a month? It’s several thousand dollars a month. I know people in the porn industry who have all of this content and they’re just churning it out to upwards of 5,000 fans making $40,000 a month. It’s a shit tonne of money for not sitting in a office cubicle.OnlyFans: ‘It’s sex, it’s real, but of course you’re conscious of the cameras and phones’OnlyFans only takes a 20% cut of the subscription fee, so if you figure I charge $14.99 a month and have close to 800 fans – you can do the math. How much work do you put into creating content each week?On an average week, I spend 20 hours a week doing OnlyFans related stuff. What videos have you made that have gone outside of your usual comfort zone? There’s a six-way video on your profile, that must of been intense. So first I did a three-way, and then I did a four-way. And then some gay porn stars invited me to join this six-way. I have no interest in group sex, I’d rather be, as an older guy, in a monogamous or semi-monogamous relationship, but it was still fun. It’s sex, it’s real. But, of course you’re conscious of the cameras and phones, everyone filming and making themselves look good, filming the cum-shot. I wasn’t completely relaxed so even though they’re great guys, I wouldn’t do it again. One of the videos features a trans guy. Was this your first trans sexual experience?I’d never done it before [had sex with a trans man] and I was always really intrigued.I’d filmed a scene with a friend of his who hooked us up when he came to LA. It was really amazing and I had a great time. He is a porn personality so it wasn’t a big deal for him.‘If you’re undetectable, which I am, there’s no chance of transmitting HIV’We actually planned on doing something off-camera but our schedules didn’t work out; I’m sure I’ll hang out with him again. As a HIV activist, do you use the platform to educate?I’ve been positive since 1989. Today, it’s a proven fact if you’re undetectable, which I am, there’s no chance of transmitting HIV.When I started I didn’t think about it. The porn community is really well versed; most porn guys, if they’re negative, are on PrEP and if they’re positive, they’re undetectable. However, when I started shooting scenes, some guy would tell me about people writing on their feed saying: ‘Oh, he’s famously positive – I hope you protected yourself’.A lot of ignorances popped up. I have little chats with people and say: ‘If this happens, here’s a website you can send them to help teach them.’It’s been a tool to educate people about PrEP and being undetectable. I didn’t go into this thinking ‘oh, this is going to be another advocacy platform’, but it follows me wherever I go.Do you think it’s important porn models practice visible safer sex, like condoms, to promote their use in the fight against rising STD infections?I have friends who work in the health department here [in NYC] and I know STIs are a huge problem. But they actually always have been. Going into some of the early PrEP studies, a third of the subjects already had other STIs.I’m not anti-condom. I just think that we have to be realistic. Even before PrEP, people weren’t using condoms as an option all the time anyway. I don’t think it’s the porn community’s responsibility to wear condoms. Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading… I think the more important message is: you can have sex without condoms and protect yourself.Jack Mackenroth: ‘not using condoms is powerful’Everyone I know, myself included, gets checked for other STIs every three months. We [fellow stars] have those conversations and opt out if we’re under treatment for something.Condoms are not part of my usual regime. I have been positive for so long that I used to sero-sort and only have sex with positive guys. But in the last five years or so – with PrEP – everything’s changed. In a weird way, the visibility of [negative] people on PrEP having sex with someone who is openly HIV positive and undetectable is educating. Not using condoms is powerful. It says we’re having protected sex without anyone being able to see it.Do you think OnlyFans is turning ‘Instafamous’ gay men into ready made porn stars?I’m a prime example of someone where it [making porn] was never in my lexicon at all, but then the allure of how much money you can make I think, for sure, has [made it] now.‘Am I possibly pushing away a potential soulmate…?’Some guys, who were not even porn-adjacent, but have massive followings [on Instagram] they can’t monetize, came to OnlyFans. It caught on like wildfire because, for example, if you only have 100 subscribers and you’re charging $10 a month, you’re getting $800 a month. But, if I were 30 and still had a whole career ahead of me, I wouldn’t do what I’m doing. Is there a danger stars’ mental health could suffer constantly under pressure to produce themselves? There is an intrinsic danger to mental health, especially in an industry so stigmatized.I’m lucky I came into this version of Jack Mackenorth later in life and I was already quite self-confident. I’m very clear this is a brand and a means to an end. I don’t internalize it beyond that, I’ve developed a bit of a “fuck it” attitude. Other people’s negative opinions don’t bother me. That being said—it is a game of fans liking you and staying engaged, but I try not to take that personally. It’s like any job. Some people will like your work, others may not.I do think there is more of a risk with younger guys who might put more of their self worth in their success on these platforms.Take Our PollDo you think your real self suffers under the hypersexualised produced version of Jack Mackenroth? There’s a piece of me that thinks: ‘Yeah, If I was making this much money with this little effort doing something non-sexual, I’d prefer it.’My outward facing brand is not very true to my real personality and my real life. It seems very sexy. But actually my life’s not very exciting and I usually am in bed by 10pm watching Netflix with my dog. I’d like nothing more than a solid relationship, but ironically I’m packaging myself to push that away.I’m hypersexualising Jack Mackenroth even more by having sex on camera. It was a question of weighing the positives and negatives: Am I possibly pushing away a potential soulmate that doesn’t think it’s cool? Yeah possibly. But, eventually I’ll have a nursing degree and this will be in the past. Do you think consumers struggle to meet the standards set by your hypersexuality and experience issues around their own image?I’ve never really thought about that. I just do me.I realise that people come in all different shapes and sizes. That’s why I went out of my way to have sex with a trans guy.We all think we don’t measure up because there’s people out there with 11-inch cocks who are just throwing all this stuff out there; it’s not just in porn, its in life. What is the future for Jack Mackenroth on and off Only Fans/JustFor.Fans? After my nursing degree I want to disappear from public consumption, for the most part.I started modelling when I was 20, pre-digital, and now, at 49, I’m done. If there was no money involved now I would go off into the sunset and just be a nurse. With JustFor.Fans, I’m going to stick to more intimate, personal stuff. In my real sexual life I’m very adventurous. There’s a bunch of people I’ve contacted I want to work with. I’ll keep doing one-on-one’s, maybe a three-way here and there. So many guys are migrating to JustFor.Fans now, but still keeping their OnlyFans accounts – so keep a look out for new content on both.By the way, I welcome requests too. I do personal videos, for example for one guy who was really into feet – so I did stuff with my feet.Gay Star News encourages readers to educate themselves on the latest findings in HIV research, including undetectable=untransmittable, and sexual health and to consult a practitioner before taking part in any sexual activity deemed ‘risky’ by the health service in their respective countries. She is the first Hong Kong leader to do so.Over 470 LGBTI-themed messages were posted during the session.Despite LGBTI issues being one of the most popular points of discussion, Lam did not address any LGBTI-related topics.‘Many people hoped the chief executive would respond to [calls for an] anti-discrimination law on sexual orientation and gender identity,’ Billy Leung, convenor of Hong Kong Equality Project, told the South China Morning Post.‘However, the hosts repeatedly avoided raising questions about the issue.’Leung also questioned whether Lam deliberately ignored LGBTI-themed messages.Growing supportPublic support for LGBTI rights in Hong Kong has grown at a rapid pace in recent years.A study released last month showed that 50% of Hong Kongers thought same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.
